October 4, 2009 Grand Opening Date More details to be announced soon...
The first floor of our museum has received a certificate of occupancy and is now opened. Our second floor (Cultural Center) requires a fire sprinkler system and at this time will not be opened to the public.

The American Italian Museum And Cultural Center is pleased to announce that the building plans final stage of our project has been approved by the State of New York, Albany County and the Town of Colonie. Construction once again has continued, after long battles with various agencies over building permits. Amedore Homes Inc. has been awarded the construction bid and workers are actively working on the project. [updated August,2009 ]

The project will include the installation of an elevator that will bring our visitors to the two levels of our building. This part of the project will bring our building to today's building codes that address the accessibility for handicap individuals. The elevator installation is a very costly part of this final stage and thanks to the efforts of Assemblyman James Tedisco of  110th Assembly District a NYS grant has been awarded to meet some of the costs of the elevator.

Before our doors can open we still need to make various changes to this very old building that will be the main show case of our Museum. Our Main Building is in excellent structural condition, however it does not meet many of today's building codes for emergency exits and handicap bathroom facilities. Our Final Construction Phase will address all of those remaining issues. We now will meet out Grand Opening Date of October 4, 2009

We still need your help. We are a not for profit organization and the final phase of construction will require fundraising events and much needed community donations. Our Board of Directors have approved the plan to move forward and we are confident that with the  NYS Grant, Our Fundraising Events and Your Help our doors will open soon.

Our museum doors will now open however our ultimate goal of being a full service learning and cultural center (2nd floor of our building) requires a fire sprinkler system. Fundraising efforts will continue to help us complete our goals. (updated August 24, 2009)
